History of LVRD

With the revival of women’s roller derby sweeping the nation, the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls were established in January 2006 to bring the thrill and excitement of the sport to the Valley. The Lehigh Valley Rollergirls is a women’s flat track roller derby league, which has rapidly grown from just a handful of women meeting at open skates to full WFTDA members with a currently competing All-Star travel team and two competitive home teams.

LVRG has received much attention from local media outlets, including PBS and Pulse Weekly, and even traveled to Montreal in June 2007 to play in one of the first international roller derby bouts since the revival of the sport. Since then, we've traveled as far south as Florida and hosted two international teams from England and Scotland at our home rink.

We are currently a league consisting of skaters, officials, nso's, and volunteers aging from 24-57 and traveling as far as 60 miles to join in on the fun. We train 2-3 times a week to advance our skills and strengthen our bodies. Although injures do happen, we all agree, "It's worth it."

This non-profit, skater-owned and operated league is dedicated to promoting strong women and the spirit of sisterhood, both on and off the track. When not in the rink, the girls can often be found at various community events in the area. To learn more about the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls, contact the league manager.
